Over time you need to make choices as a manager concerning you riders’ careers. Make him captain for a tour and prepare his TF. Let him be captain in a classic. But these choices do not compare to those relating to firing a rider, especially when he’s your team. Jan-Joost Dussel is the embodiment of the team; he fulfilled all the dreams we had when we started. Not only singlehandedly promoting us to first division but also giving us 105 results and 64 wins, including 2 stages in the Volta, 16 stages in Germany Tour + 4 green jerseys and even a yellow jersey besides being consistently one of the top 3 best riders in OCM for the last four seasons.
But to us he will always be remembered for winning Nederlandse Tour not once nor twice but three times!!! Being the first home rider to win it and equal the record set by our example Torben Sturmann.
Jan-Joost Dussel will most likely ride his final race as a captain for us in Nederlandse Tour in 2 weeks. It's the best place to give him one final shot to make him even more legendary for us than he already is. But we do not expect anything because whatever the outcome he will always be a legend for us.
